English Folk Expo becomes Sound Roots!

After our first ten years, we’ve now renamed ourselves. We were English Folk Expo, we are now Sound Roots.

But don’t worry! English Folk Expo isn’t going anywhere, it will still continue to be the showcase for folk, roots and acoustic music in England. We just needed a way to differentiate the charity that powers the event (as well as lots of other things) from the event itself.

So the best way to think about it might be like the relationship between Meta and it’s platforms Facebook, Instagram and Threads. But a lot smaller. And also for independent music.

Sometimes we’ll talk to people as Sound Roots. Sometimes it makes more sense for us to talk to people as English Folk Expo. It might even make sense for us to wear our Manchester Folk hats in our communication. But we’re still the same team behind it all.
