David Agnew
Chief Executive and Artistic Director

David Agnew has worked with the organisation since its inception in 2012.

Previously as director of So It Is, David launched Manchester Folk Festival, which hosted English Folk Expo from 2017, before joining the organisation as Artistic Director when Sound Roots began running Manchester Folk Festival in 2020.

David has worked in the sector for more than 25 years as a venue director (The Met), programmer and festival organiser with Ramsbottom Festival, Head for the Hills, The Lost Carnival and Big Whistle Festival.

David is a board member of the Association of Independent Festivals and Access Folk, as well as the chair of Wild Rumpus CIC.
